Qualcomm（美国高通公司）是“核战”的苦主，不情愿的跟着联发科的脚步，从一再抨击八核无用，到推出八核处理器，为迎合市场需求而“打脸”。毕竟，消费者已经被教育出了这样一个概念：“核越多手机性能越好”，终端厂商也乐于采用这种傻瓜式的营销方式，促使芯片厂商不断升级CPU的核数。

今年联发科要推出十核处理器消息出现后不久，市场也传出了Qualcomm要跟进，也推出十核处理器。不过，Qualcomm似乎决定就此打住。最新推出的旗舰处理器骁龙820“仅仅”只有四核，Qualcomm希望以强悍的性能，解决这种“错误的”营销模式。

在昨日举行的2015 Qualcomm 3G/LTE峰会上，Qualcomm执行副总裁兼联席总裁Murthy Renduchintala博士在接受采访时指出，核的数量并不是最重要的，重要的是质量。内核的表现要从三个属性来看，一是单线程的基准测试，二是多线程的基准测试，三是达到相应的性能级别。骁龙820采用自主定制的微架构，此外，还搭配了Adreno 530的GPU、Spectra ISP、Hexagon 680 DSP，完全胜任智能手机工作所需的动力。

Qualcomm执行副总裁兼联席总裁Cristiano Amon则指出，Qualcomm的丰富经验在于怎么服务高端客户，另外关注终端用户到底需要什么。“我们的未来不需要十核，盲目地搞十核，而且CPU上没有任何定制的功能，都是简单的功能，无法给用户带来增强的用户体验”。
